went to visit her old home on Turnbull Street on October 3rd 1895. After an enjoyable day of visiting she was returning home and when she collapsed and died. At the time of her death she was the oldest person living that had been born in Belleville with one exception.

Charles A Merriam lived in Belleville most of his life. He was an engineer by trade and had been on the ferry boat crossing the bay, also in the Eagle Mill at Rossmore. He was the first engineer at the Belleville pump house when the works system was first installed Belleville. He lived in Toronto for a time at the end of his life.
