Greetings Mer(r)iam Cousins!
Kit Cutting of Merriam Family Papers and Jerry Boor of the Merriam Family Tree - Sequoia Project are collaborating to introduce some exciting new prospects for the website and related activities. These include the following:
Jerry Boor is digitizing the entire Merriam Pope book (Merriam Genealogy in England and America) to be completely accessible and searchable on genealogy software. John Merriam Kingsbury, who re-published the book through Bullbrier Press, is supporting these efforts. Kit Cutting is looking into what it would take to convert MerriamFamilyPapers into a brand new website with video and sound capabilities. After the digitizing of the Pope book is complete, then we are going to need the help of scores of you from different branches of the family to submit family trees to us so we can compile all the information into what we believe could be one of the most comprehensive trees of its kind, tracing our Merriam heritage all the way back to England, then to the United States, Canada and other places.
It's going to be fun, but we can't tackle projects of this magnitude without help from our Merriam family. So, the first thing we are asking you to do is to become a part of Merriam-Descendants' e-mail list on Yahoo. This list has been going on for 10 years now and we want to grow it to get the word out to as many Merriams as possible.
To subscribe to the Merriam-Descendants e-mail list, simply send an e-mail, with SUBSCRIBE in the subject line, to:
Merriam-Descendants-Subscribe@yahoogroups.com
and we will place you on the list. We don't allow junk mail on this list, so you need not be concerned about being overwhelmed with a lot of mail you don't want.
Sincerely, Kit Cutting MerriamFamilyPapers.com Jerry Boor Merriam Family Tree - Sequoia Project
