According to the Merriam genealogy in England and America by Charles Pope *, the Merriam family of Nova Scotia came from Wallingford, Connecticut at the close of the American Revolution. Ebenezer Merriam and his family moved to halifax in the company with Rev. Mr. Andrews, an Episcopal minister, and others of his parishioners.
